Ghost Witch Annie: The Legend of Skeleton Cave

Three kids, one ghost, and the spooky surrounds of the Smoky Mountains—we can’t think of a better way to have some family fun with this season than the book Ghost Witch Annie, by First Flight Books author Lamar Berry.

It’s a beguiling tale of three fifth graders and one ghost—Annie—whose supernatural presence helps them “untangle secrets, outwit dangerous foes, and learn the true strength of friendship, character and trust.” And it comes complete with a full color, illustrated map to help your kids follow along with our young heroes on their adventure.

It is a story whose characters evoke the charm and spirit of beloved films like “The Goonies” or, more recently, the Netflix series, “Stranger Things.” A little creepy and harrowing at the edges, its heart lies in the idea that “every generation of kids deserves a little magic, a little mystery, and a loyal circle of friends to face it with.”

Perfect for readers around age 12, this is a book that lets them get into the spirit of the season without keeping them up all night.
